DIY MASK: 1/2 teaspoon turmeric + 1 teaspoon honey + half a lemon + lemon zest (optional)
Sundays are those only days other than the few holidays when I find time for myself. Its the day for me to enjoy my me-time, get my shoots done or just spend the day reading something interesting. One thing that I try to follow up religiously is to pamper myself every Sunday. Mostly its nothing fancy but just a mask that I whip up from scratch in the kitchen. This brings me to the first beauty post to go up on the blog. I had second thoughts on introducing another category especially the BEAUTY section on the blog but I wanted to do it ever since I rebranded last August. For those who do not know, two years back I started blogging with a beauty blog as an experiment to see how it would fair. Over the past two years I have learned a lot, my aesthetics and beliefs have taken a different turn, though for better or worse I know not.
Coming back to the story about my skin, I have had combination skin for as long as I remember and it was healthy and spotless until I turned eighteen and was blessed with adult acne. In the past five years I have tried most things and concluded that natural products work best for me. I do swear by makeup from the drugstore but for skincare I stick to brands that promise to be organic and natural. In fact having used bare minimum products and simple diy masks like this one for the past six months, the recurrence of acne is now under control.
Today as you can perceive from the pictures, I have an easy diy that you can whip up in under a minute. I like to do this once in a while to lighten my acne scars, take care of dull skin plus the gritty texture makes for a lovely exfoliator sans the harshness. You would just need a pinch of turmeric, a tea spoon of honey and a dash of lime. I like to add a little lemon zest too to add to the exfoliation and just because I like the smell of citrus. The ingredients are to be mixed until they are not too runny yet smooth on application. Its safe to apply to both your face or body given that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. Let it dry and wash off with water and follow up with moisturizer. I must warn you though that turmeric stains but its nothing that you can’t get off the next day with a little warm water and your face wash. Its better to do it the night before so that you can take care of the staining if any the next day. You can observe its effect right from the first use. Hence its effective, light on the pocket and easy to whip up in a jiffy. Have a lovely week.
