One of my colour obsession has always been black. I have been lured to it by some seemingly invisible force. In the past few months I have exhausted my limited budget on adding a few more clothes and accessories in this beautiful ‘dark’ colour and broken the many resolutions taken to consider other colours. I do own a score of clothes that are colourful, collected over half a decade or more and that which I wear as much as black. But given a choice I can wear it everyday and never get bored. I cannot seem to fathom my obsession with it. The items in my wishlists are an assortment of black garments in very many different designs, a handful of neutrals and even fewer prints.
Having said of my obsession, I must admit that sometimes I am forced to consider otherwise. Summer dominates the better part of the year here and on those days black clothes just don’t work. Humidity and high temperature in Bengal leaves one sweaty, hot and mad. And the only relief would be the luxury of air conditioning and staying indoors which only few of us can have. Those days I take recourse to lighter colours and comfortable fabrics. It is not that I have never tried wearing black clothes in summer, but it has never been an all black outfit. But as the temperatures have dropped since the end of last month and the air is much drier, my black outfits are finally seeing the light of the day.
Since today I am wearing all black, it did need something to break the monotone. Hence the addition of the colour-blocked Lavie bag. Having initially considered a black bag, the interesting contours and colours of this one finally convinced me otherwise. I beleive the matte red adds the right amount of colour. Black shall always be a dominant colour in my wardrobe. But I shall keep an open mind and not stop from adding other colours too. Thus saying, the black obsession shall continue later in other posts to come.
